"Welcome Back, M"

Welcome Back, M

what happened to my point of
view
was it lost along with my
identity
all those years ago
when I became Mrs. you
and said goodbye to
me
what happened to my talent
sacrificed along with my
life
when your shadow swallowed
me
and I cringe as I sign on the dotted
line
as the pen releases a name that has imprisoned
mine
and tomorrow when I am whole
again
will I remember how to be
unique
will I still have an opinion
that could make a mark
before his ring choked my
thoughts

independent again
I search for the woman
who disappeared
and I find her
just in time
to make a difference

and I am only one letter
distinct
but it is my
rebirth
now that I am
ms. me
again
and I welcome my very own
type A personality
back to it’s original owner
